Introduction

John 20:1 – 18

“Why are you weeping?”

The heart of Christ is to remove our Shame.

The Woman at the Well – John 4

The woman with the issue of blood – Luke 8:40ff

Leviticus 15:19-25

“One of shame’s most acute byproducts is the fear of exposure, the very thing that, paradoxically, is required for shame’s healing. It requires great courage to reveal ourselves in the face of the abject terror that we will be seen and then rejected.

-Curt Thompson

The leper of Matthew – 8:3ff

Thomas in the Upper Room – John 20:24ff

The Invitation of Jesus to come out of Hiding opens the door to create beauty in the world.

“Evil’s intention in using shame was not just to get the male and the female to ‘sin.’  It’s intention was to shear off the capacity of the creatures to make beautiful things.”

-Curt Thompson

The disciples have gone back to fishing – John 21

Nearly all the disciples had abandoned Jesus during his trial.

Simon Peter:

Thomas:

Nathaniel:

James and John (the sons of Zebedee):

In John 21:10, 12 Jesus says, “Bring some of the fish that you have just caught and Come and have breakfast.”

Jesus continues offering the invitation to us.
