“You must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life.”
-Dallas Willard

Jesus invites us into Rest!

Matthew 11:28-30

Notice how critical resting was to the rhythm of Jewish life…

God rested… Genesis 2:1-3

Sabbath: We’re commanded to rest on the 7th day… Exodus 20:8-11…

Schmita: Every 7th year the land was to remain fallow… Exodus 23:10-11… Leviticus 25:1-7…

The Year of Jubilee… Leviticus 25:8-22

The rest into which God invites us is meant to be a GIFT!

When we see Sabbath – or rest – primarily as Law, it ceases to be helpful. Mark 2:27… Colossians 2:16…

Resting in Christ is Gift that looks like…

Spending some time… Luke 9:4… whatever house invites you in “remain there…”

How often are we invited to stop and consider… Jeremiah 6:16… Psalm 46…

REST…

Questions for Reflection:
1. What, if any, is your specific rhythm of rest?
2. What are you doing to build rest in the rhythm of your family?
3. What has been the most helpful part of A-B-I-D-E?
4. What can you do to “ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life?”
